Student Editor, Honors Program Newsletter The Squirrel Squire

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Uphold the WSU Honors Program Pillars
  • Meet weekly with the Honors Program Administrative Assistant to coordinate around design and content
  • Write one or more stories for The Squirrel Squire 
  • Solicit content for the issue from fellow students, faculty, and staff on campus
  • Collaborate with the Honors Program Administrative Assistant to edit all submitted work
  • Attend social, academic, and service events (when possible given scheduling) to document events
  • Compile an electronic portfolio of internship activities for evaluation
  • Serve as a guide for future interns offering tips, best practices, and sharing any account information (including passwords) to foster smooth transition
To be eligible for this position, you must:
  • Be an Honors student in good standing (GPA > 3.30)
  • Have an interest and knowledge in newsletter, magazine, or related publication design and editing
  • Know how to use Canva
  • Be organized, self-directed, and responsive to WSU email
Evaluation for grading will include:
  • Attendance at required weekly meetings
  • Adherence to deadlines
  • Timely communication via email
  • Production of content

Student Manager, Honors Program Social Media Accounts

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Uphold the WSU Honors Program Pillars
  • Meet weekly with Honors Program Director or Assistant Director
  • Manage the Honors Program social media accounts, including: Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Post account updates regularly and respond to messages received in each account
  • Serve on the Student Honors Association (SHA) in the role of Publicist in order to stay well-informed on planned social events, academic workshops, and service events throughout the semester
  • Collaborate with the Honors Program Administrative Assistant to create and/or share flyers, posts, pictures, etc. over social media in a timely manner 
  • Attend social, academic, and service events (when possible given scheduling) to document events
  • Compile an electronic portfolio of internship activities for evaluation
  • Serve as a guide for future interns offering tips, best practices, and sharing account information (including passwords) to foster smooth transition
To be eligible for this position, you must:
  • Be an Honors student in good standing (GPA > 3.30)
  • Have an interest and knowledge using various social media platforms, including best practices to engage audiences in different platforms
  • Know how to use Canva
  • Be organized, self-directed, and responsive to WSU email

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Uphold the WSU Honors Program Pillars
  • Meet weekly with the Honors Program Director or Assistant Director
  • Organize one or more service events/projects for students in the Honors Program
  • Form new and foster existing connections with community partners who can serve as the site for service projects
  • Collaborate with the Honors Program Administrative Assistant to document student service hours
  • Compile an electronic portfolio of internship activities for evaluation
  • Serve as a guide for future interns offering tips, best practices, and sharing any account information (including passwords) to foster smooth transition
To be eligible for this position, you must:
  • Be an Honors student in good standing (GPA > 3.30)
  • Have enthusiasm for community service
  • Be organized, self-directed, and responsive to WSU email

Student Academic Advisor, Honors Living and Learning Community

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Uphold the WSU Honors Program Pillars
  • Meet weekly with the Honors Program Director or Assistant Director
  • Organize weekly study hours for students in the Honors LLC
  • Organize complementary events to promote physical/mental wellness, life skills, and career development in the Honors LLC
  • Coordinate with Res Life leadership and LLC Resident Assistants on co-sponsored programming
  • Compile an electronic portfolio of internship activities for evaluation
  • Serve as a guide for future interns offering tips, best practices, and sharing any account information (including passwords) to foster smooth transition
To be eligible for this position, you must:
  • Be an Honors student in good standing (GPA > 3.30)
  • Have enthusiasm for academic excellence and intellectual curiosity
  • Be organized, self-directed, and responsive to WSU email
Evaluation for grading will include:

Student Peer Mentor, Honors Discovery Seminar

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Uphold the WSU Honors Program Pillars
  • Meet weekly with the Instructor of the Honors Discovery Seminar
  • Attend one (assigned) section of HNRS0101 weekly
  • Share contact information and availability with students in your mentoring group. This should include time students could meet with you outside of class each week as needed. 
  • Lead one or more classroom activities/discussions as designated by the Instructor
  • Compile an electronic portfolio of internship activities for evaluation
  • Serve as a guide for future interns offering tips, best practices, and sharing any account information (including passwords) to foster smooth transition
To be eligible for this position, you must:
  • Be an Honors student in good standing (GPA > 3.30)
  • Practice openness, empathy, patience, and understanding
  • Be organized, self-directed, and responsive to WSU email
Evaluation for grading will include:
