Student Profile: Emily Czupta (’25)
Emily Czupta (’25) picked Elementary Education as a major because of a deep love for teaching. In an interview, Czupta discussed how she arrived on this path and what she enjoys about attending ݮƵ.
Czupta is particularly grateful for the community she found on campus and how ݮƵ State is unique because of its accessibility. “I chose ݮƵ State partly because of the class sizes and the size of the campus,” she said. “It was in between a small school and a big school, and when I walked onto campus it really just felt like home. You really get to know the people within your major and you get to know your professors,” she added. When choosing universities, Czupta credits this as the defining factor for her overall decision.
Selecting Elementary Education as a career was the next easy decision. “I chose Elementary Education because I really like kids. I think when I was younger, I always wanted to be a teacher, so it was an easy choice for me,” she said. “I coached field hockey, so I had experience with [kids].”
With graduation still a few years away, Czupta said the size and structures of her classes helped prepare her for teaching. “ݮƵ State is preparing me to be a teacher because they’re really letting me get that experience inside of the classroom. [That’s] the thing I like most about Elementary Education. You’re already getting in there and getting into it.”
