Because ��ݮ��Ƶ is located in an idyllic, scenic part of Massachusetts, it’s important to be familiar with the ecological amenities that surround us. Luckily, there’s no small shortage of beautiful parks around the region.  

is a well-known and well-loved park, due to its handicap accessible parking as well as its close proximity to ��ݮ��Ƶ. There are a variety of facilities offered to those looking to spend time interacting with nature. including playgrounds, athletic courts, public bathrooms, and gardens. For those looking to exercise, there’s several basketball and tennis courts in addition to scenic hiking trails near the back of the park. If you’re looking to relax, the duck pond features benches for those who want a good view of the ducks and geese. There are also coin-operated vending machines which dispense corn for those interested in feeding the birds.  

Stanley Park is located at 400 Western Avenue, ��ݮ��Ƶ.

is also located in ��ݮ��Ƶ, though it’s often branded as “��ݮ��Ƶ’s Best Kept Secret” due to its unassuming location on Smith Avenue. Grandmother’s Garden was originally established in 1934 as a flower and herb garden, and then revived in recent years by community volunteers. The garden features a gazebo-styled pavilion, which is surrounded by colorful flora. If you’re ever looking to relax in a secluded corner of the woods, this is your best bet.

Grandmother’s Garden is on Smith Avenue in ��ݮ��Ƶ.

is a small sitting area underneath the two Great Bridges on North Elm Street in ��ݮ��Ƶ. Visitors have to cross the road to gain entrance, so they should be aware of nearby streets where cars may turn. There are several water fountains, as well as small trees which provide shade.  Its most defining feature, however, is the stretch of the ��ݮ��Ƶ River which rushes parallel to the park. This is a great place to visit during your lunch break, or if you just enjoy the sound of running water.

Half Miles Park is located on 3 North Elm Street, ��ݮ��Ƶ.

The Interfaith Meditation Garden is a new and integral part of the ��ݮ��Ƶ State campus, as it was specifically designed to offer visitors a quiet place for contemplation. Completed in July 2023, this respite was sponsored by the campus’ Albert and Amelia Ferst Interfaith Center to promote spiritual and ecological awareness. The garden is populated with various flora and features a wooden gazebo carved with prayers from various religions.

In Holyoke, is a swirling pattern of road and fresh water. This reservoir is about 15 minutes away from ��ݮ��Ƶ and is easily accessible to anyone looking for a tranquil stroll. You can often spot great blue herons lounging by the waterside as you walk, punctuating the experience with a distinct, New England vibe. Wandering around Ashley Reservoir is a must for those seeking peace and tranquility not only in summer, but throughout the year.
